Child of Time is a new musical project in development by Studio W.
Set on a mysterious planet where clocks and humans live together, the story follows Chiku,
a clock child whose tempo is different from everyone else’s.
Through rhythm, difference, and music, the piece explores whether we can truly understand one another.

Studio W is a Tokyo-based creative unit founded in 2026 by playwright and director Worry Kinoshita and composer Shunsuke Wada as a laboratory for developing new musical theatre.
Combining theatre, music, live performance, media art, and the imagination of Japanese pop culture, Studio W creates original musicals from the creators’ point of view. Its work focuses on stories that can travel beyond language and borders, while actively seeking collaboration with artists, producers, and theatres in Korea and around the world.
Kinoshita and Wada have worked together on a wide range of stage productions, including 2.5D theatre and original musicals such as Hyper Projection Engeki “Haikyu!!”, Musical Nogizaka46 Version “Sailor Moon”, Machida-kun’s World, One Piece, and Sanrio projects.
Studio W’s current project, Child of Time, is a work-in-progress original musical first presented in Tokyo in May 2026. The piece explores rhythm, difference, empathy, and the question of whether people can truly understand one another.

Worry Kinoshita is a playwright and director whose work has been invited to international festivals in Edinburgh, Sibiu, Busan, Singapore, and beyond. He has also served as a festival director and as the director of a public theatre.
His recent works include the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony, the Japanese translation and direction of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the Musical, and the musical staging of Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s “The White Lounge.” He is known for creating works that cross the boundaries of theatre, media art, and live performance.

Shunsuke Wada

Shunsuke Wada is a composer and musician. A graduate of Kindai University’s Department of Arts, Theatre Major, he is highly regarded by directors and artists for his deep understanding of drama and his ability to translate stories and characters into music.
Wada has composed music for numerous stage productions, musicals, television dramas, screen projects, and artists. His recent works include Musical “Touken Ranbu,” Stage “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” and Chainsaw Man The Stage.
His music is known for its theatrical sensitivity, emotional precision, and strong connection to live performance.
